REFURBISHMENT & TRANSFORMATION

A four year collaborative project with 30 multisectoral partners across London, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Helsinki region. Focus is in the areas of:

· Demolition and reuse
· Refurbishment and transformation
· Principles for designing new circular buildings and future developments

The project also explores city-wide systems:
· Governance and planning
· Material and data flows
· Training and knowledge sharing.

Funded by the EU - H2020 scheme.

DISTRIBUTED DECISION
MAKING IN RETROFIT

This project aims to decrease uncertainty in designing retrofit solutions for low-rise domestic dwellings, with a focus on risk factor (starting with energy and costs).

PATENT INSPIRED INNOVATION

What is potential requirement?
· Upper/parallel level of knowledge (hypernym/synonym, not arbitrary)

How to tap potential requirement?
· Exactly what knowledge graphs can do: logistic reasoning.

Why choose ICP number?
· With defined “section”, “class”, “subclass”, ”main group”, abundant knowledge and already clustered well with relationship, just need effective organisation in KG.

Ongoing case study: Airplane wings

Funded by the China Scholarship Council.

VISUAL THINKING

· Visualising Ideas
· Visualising thoughts
· Machine learning
· 64x64 pixel

Funded by the Data Science Institute.

TECH TOYS

The use of boundary objects in design thinking for a teenage classroom.

Aim – An intervention study using LEGO Education, Meccano & K’nex intends to investigate whether using tech toys within a design thinking process that promotes engagement and creativity, improves outcomes.

Hypotheses – Do the use of boundary objects enhance engagement & creativity in terms of number of skills used for a purposeful outcome (use) and improvement in performance (grades)? Do the use of boundary objects (tech toys) promote knowledge development (Learning outcomes ), knowledge transfer (Application outcomes ) within STEAM disciplines and Non-STEAM?

Funded by the Saudi Scholarship.

WORDS TO LIFE

MIT Press Essay

This essay explores the blurring of what originates from a human and that from other mediums in a world where co-creation is becoming the norm.

From knowledge to new knowledge and new creations enabled by a fusion of human thought, memory and inventiveness intertwined – and now let loose in the form of learning algorithms that the originators barely recognise or comprehend.

Funded by the MIT Press.

SUPERFORM DAY CHALLENGE
